OUR STORY

Welcome to Chi Kitchen, a contemporary pan-Asian restaurant created as an exclusive departmental brand for Debenhams. Chi Kitchen is celebrating 1 year since the opening on the ground floor in Debenhams Oxford Street.

Chi Kitchen Story

The brand Chi Kitchen was created after much thought. The word Chi means energy in Chinese. Our aim, therefore, is to build a brand that is not only going to offer great food, but also provide good energy to Debenhams customers, as well as the new customers that Chi Kitchen will attract. We have also chosen a Chinese symbol “” , which again has a strong meaning… it means Fire. We have managed to link the word Chi and the symbol together, as fire can be converted into energy. Fire also relates directly to our restaurant, as we are using a robata grill in all sites.

MasterChef 2014 winner Ping Coombes has been appointed Executive Chef for Chi Kitchen. Since winning MasterChef, Ping has embraced the opportunity to spread her knowledge of her native Malaysian cuisine, working around the world as a Malaysia Kitchen Ambassador.

Chi Kitchen in Oxford Street accommodates up to 68 guests, featuring a welcoming champagne bar.

The interior design of the restaurant is inspired by the five elements, namely fire, water, wood, earth and metal. The combination of marble, timber and leather in the restaurant, helps to create an elegant and welcoming setting, inviting customers to enjoy a fantastic experience, both in terms of the environment, and the exotic food on offer. Our creative menu, offers colourful, tasty and exotic food to the discerning customers of Debenhams. Influenced by Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean food, Chi Kitchen takes diners on a truly unique culinary journey through South East Asia.

Chi Kitchen is jointly owned by experienced restaurateur Eddie Lim and entrepreneur Stan Myerson.
